At present, the public announcement has ended, 61 projects have entered the publicity list, and the central government's financial support has reached 640 million yuan.

When the reporter combed the publicity list, it was found that cancer-related projects accounted for about one-third, and precision medicine-related projects such as lung cancer and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases frequently appeared. According to industry analysts, the application of precision medicine in cancer is the fastest growing among all diseases.

The maximum single fund is over 50 million

From abroad to the country, precision medicine has been sought after in the past two years. Since the end of January 2015, US President Barack Obama announced in his State of the Union speech that after launching the precision medical plan, the White House official website will release details of the precision medical plan in early February, which will accelerate the understanding of disease at the genomic level. On March 11, the Ministry of Science and Technology held the first national expert meeting on precision medicine strategy, and first proposed the China Precision Medical Plan.

This year, precision medicine has been selected into the “13th Five-Year Plan” and has become a national strategy. The official website of the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the "Notice of the Ministry of Science and Technology on the publication of the 2016 special project declaration guidelines for key national research and development programs, such as precision medical research." Whether it is application or business planning or technology development, precision medicine has a "guide" since then.

In this publicity list, there are 61 projects including Zhang Zemin of Peking University, “Development of clinical single-cell omics technology”. Among them, Yu Tangchun from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, “A prospective cohort study of chronic non-communicable diseases in Central China” has become the single-supported project, and the central government will provide 53.31 million yuan in support.

The central government's financial support for 61 projects on the public list totaled 640 million yuan, and the average financial support for each project exceeded 10 million.

About 1/3 of cancer-related projects

Among the 61 projects announced this time, research projects in the fields of lung cancer, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases accounted for a large proportion. In addition to lung cancer, research projects related to cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment account for about one-third of the publicity list. Specific cancer types include breast cancer, esophageal cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer, oral cancer, and cervical cancer. Wait. According to industry analysts, the current application of precision medicine in cancer is the fastest among all diseases. Lung cancer has also become the cancer with the highest incidence in China. The morbidity and mortality are ranked first in male tumors, and female tumors are the second and first. The 2015 Health and Population Health Report, which was just released in June this year, shows that the primary cause of death among Beijing residents in 2015 was malignant tumors, of which lung cancer caused the highest proportion of deaths.
