Recently, scientists such as University Health Network of Canada and University of Toronto published an article entitled "Sensitive tumour detection and classification using plasma cell-free DNA methylomes" in Nature, reporting a sensitive detection based on immunoprecipitation. A method of circulating free DNA methyl compounds horizontally.

In recent years, the liquid biopsy technology of tumors has developed rapidly. At present, the detection method of circulating free DNA is mainly to detect somatic cell mutation by free DNA sequencing. However, given the limited number of recurrent mutations, these methods may be less sensitive in early cancer patients. In contrast, tissue and cancer type-specific high-level epigenetic changes have no similar limitations, and thus have greater development potential in tumor detection and classification identification of early tumor patients. In this study, researchers have demonstrated that tumor detection and classification can be performed by detecting the methylation level of free DNA by using a large number of plasma samples from several tumors. This work laid the foundation for the development of biomarkers for early detection, blockade and typing of cancer based on plasma free DNA methylation patterns.
