Protein L is also an immunoglobulin binding protein derived from the bacterium Peptostococcus Magnus. Unlike Protein A and Protein G, Protein L binds to the light chain of an antibody molecule. Because there is no heavy chain involvement, Protein L can bind to more types of antibodies than Protein A and Protein G. Protein L can bind to almost all antibody types including IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE and IgD. However, antibodies bound by Protein L must contain a kappa light chain.

Protein L products for antibody purification

The PurKineTM Protein L purification system is highly efficient for the purification of IgGs containing kappa light chains in serum, ascites, cell culture supernatants and other antibody samples. The patented chemical modification of the recombinant Protein L does not combine bovine IgGs present in the serum supplement of the medium to minimize non-specific binding, which is very useful for purifying monoclonal antibodies containing VLk in the culture supernatant.

We offer tools for the purification of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies from different sources. The basis for antibody affinity purification is the high affinity and specificity of protein G and protein A for the Fc region of different species of IgG.
