The origin of Pingzhu tea

<

Origin of the name

Bead tea is a kind of fried green tea first created by Shaoxing tea farmers, also known as round tea. Its round shape is tight, granular, green color, heavy bones, like pearls, high quality flavor, long-lasting resistance bubble. This tea is named after "beads" and is most appropriate.

Pingshui is a historic market town in southeast Shaoxing. During the Tang Dynasty, it was already a famous tea and wine distribution center. During the nearly 300 years between the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, it became a refined processing and distribution center for pearl tea. Therefore, it is internationally known as "ping Shuizhu tea."

After Zhuhai tea was exported to foreign countries, the translation was very interesting. Foreigners translated it as "Gunpowder". Chinese means fire cartridges. Before the rifle was invented, the bullets were also rounded. Therefore, the image of a foreigner's translated name is vivid and no less than China's.

The foreign translation of Zhu Tea's "Gunpowder" also occasionally made jokes. It is said that in 1981, a Hong Kong businessman had solemnly proposed to the mainland tea export company to change the translation so as not to hinder sales. However, the mainland port company has taken this name into account for hundreds of years. If the change of name is changed, it will inevitably hinder sales. Therefore, the enthusiastic suggestion has not been adopted. In 1984, the Zhejiang Green Tea Trade Group negotiated business with Ivory Coast, which was soon established with China. An Indian man doing business in the area was very impressed with the sample of Zhu tea. However, when signing the contract, he repeatedly requested that the name column be only available. Use "Chinese green tea" in general terms, do not display the word "Gunpowder", the reason is to avoid being misunderstood by the local customs into arms trading.
